One of Bengaluru's major artificial lakes, Sankey Tank serves as the ideal site for leisurely walks and laid-back boat rides. Nestled in the city's western part, the lake spreads over an area of 37 acre and has a width of 800 m. The lake was built in the year 1882 in order to meet the water supply demands of the city. Surrounded by a large picturesque garden, the lake serves as the perfect picnic spot for both tourists and city dwellers.

Winters at Sankey Tank are typically beautiful when the place is flocked by a large number of migratory birds from different parts of the world. Tourists can take a leisurely stroll around the lake or sit at the colourful benches surrounding the lake. They can also indulge in boat rides in the tranquil waters of the lake. The Mayura Sankey Boat Club at the lake is managed by the Karnataka State Tourist Development Corporation and offers various kinds of boat rides such as pedal boats, row boats and motor boats.
